International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

The 17th was declared in 1992 by the UN Millennium committee the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. In the establishment of this day Kofi Annan stated,"The campaign to make poverty history- a central moral challenge for our age- cannot remain a task for the few, it must become a calling of the many. On this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, I urge everyone to join this struggle. Together, we can make real and sufficient progress towards the end of poverty". They dubbed the theme for this year as Working together out of poverty. The day is supposed to help spread awareness so that this can become history instead of reality for nearly a billion people in our world.
