Technology for Everyone

Grameen and Microsoft are teaming up this week to announce the use of technology to support financial opportunities for the poor. They plan to help strengthen micro finance institutions use technology to further their agendas. They will use educational meetings and mentoring forums to help them understand how to better manage technology. Grameen's signature product is the village phone that for only pennies, can help connect a village in rural Africa or Asia. They also have a partnership with Google to have apps on these phones so that they can be more connected and use their resources to the full potential. One of the projects will be to help make the technology more affordable and use micro financing to help increase the economy and create sustainable business development. Making technology affordable and getting the rest of the world involved will help raise the standard of living and reduce some of the poverty there.
