Cutting Haiti Some Slack

With the arduous task of rebuilding a nation, Haiti has had its past debt with the United States wiped away in an effort to help the country get back on its feet faster. Now, the U.S. only gives aid money in the form of non debt-incurring grants. The U.S. and United Nations hope other countries follow their footsteps and give Haiti a clean slate upon which to rebuild. Haiti's debt currently stands at $890 million - a modest amount when one considers America's national deficit.
