Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite...



Worldwide, an estimated 200 million to 300 million malaria infections occur each year, with 2 million to 3 million deaths. In an attempt to better combat malaria infections, the government of Rwanda will be distributing 2.4 million mosquito treated bed nets this year.

The capital of Kigali states malarial infections have been cut by 60% over the past two years, due in large part to the distribution of bed nets. According the officials in the Rwandan Ministry of Health, various government interventions, such as the distribution of bed nets and the decentralization of medical services are among the major reasons attributed to the significant reduction of malaria deaths in the country.

Efforts such as these are in line with Millennium Development Goal #6 - to combat AIDS / HIV, malaria, and other diseases. In order to learn more check out the following links:
