Singer, songwriter Annie Lennox will be teaming up with UNAIDS to empower women and young girls to protect themselves against HIV infection.
The five-year plan partners the UN with governments, civil society and other development partners "to address gender inequalities and human rights violations that put women and girls at risk for HIV infection."
Combating HIV and AIDS and reaching gender equality are among the eight Millennium Development Goals that leaders from around the world agreed to have achieved by the year 2015.
