MDG #1 - End Extreme Poverty and Hunger

The above video highlights Millennium Development Goal #1 - to end extreme poverty and hunger.

It is the belief that when people are hungry and able to eat appropriately, they cannot work and will generally spend what little money they do have on trying to get healthy. This type of subsistence living keeps people trapped in a cycle of poverty in which they cannot escape.

According to the video, the poor lose $16 billion each year because they are too sick to work.

Statistics like these are what developed nations around the world are trying to tackle with the United Nations Millennium Development Campaign.
