UK Doubles Funding to GAVI Alliance

In a newly invigorated pledge of support, the United Kingdom pledged GBP 150 million to the GAVI Alliance in an effort to increase vaccinations and immunizations to people in developing countries.

Such an act represents a ringing endorsement to the public-private partnership that the GAVI organization thrives on.

This support by the UK will help GAVI prevent 4.2 million additional future deaths from now until 2015, and make a significant contribution to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

GAVI will use the UK funding to help developing countries gain access to vaccines with the greatest potential to achieve progress on the MDGs.
