Hip-Hop to Encourage Political Change

The African Hip-Hop movement began in Senegal as a means to speak out against corruption in politics. Artists inspired by American hip-hop and rap movements began using music to mobilize the ever growing youth population to participate and fight for just political leaders.

The series of documentaries on YouTube titled "African Democracy: Underground in Dakar" explains the history of the hip-hop movement and its revolutionary potential for political change.

Since then, the movement has spread throughout West Africa and down the coast. Now, some of the biggest festivals for new talent are showcased all over the continent.
