400,000 Homes to be Built in South Africa

After a government retreat, South Africa's government announced that they will be launching an ambitious plan to build 400,000 homes for people living in shacks in the outskirts of the nation's cities. 14% of poor households in South Africa are said to live in these shacks and shantytowns. South Africa also plans to provide the homes with "essential services" by 2014, paid for out of the state budget. President Jacob Zuma said a special Cabinet meeting would also be held soon to focus on economic growth and creation of jobs.
