Ethiopian Prime Minister Approves Plan to Eradicate Poverty

After results from a study conducted by Sunshine Construction Pvt. showed that stopping extreme poverty in Ethiopia was achievable in less than six years, the office of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi quickly lent support for the proposed plan. In an attempt to incorporate every Ethiopian citizen in the solution, the study argues that by obtaining 2% of all personal income, 3 billion birr could be raised in five years. The funds would be used to establish villages that benefit everyone from orphans, the retired, street children, HIV/AIDS positive women, beggars, to the homeless. In a show of commitment towards the proposal, PM Zenawi has tabled the project for discussion in the House of People Representatives. These developments come at a pivotal time for the country due to the fact that while Ethiopia has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, 44% of the population still live under the poverty line.
