President Obama has scheduled the ban against HIV positive people from entering the United States or attaining citizenship for 2010. Only a couple other countries still have irrational bans such as this. The problem has not gone away or kept from spreading by not letting these people in, there is a national problem as well as a global problem of AIDS and that needs to be addressed and not seen as just a foreign disease that is infecting the US. This lift will also allow forums to talk about how to combat AIDS that were not possible before because lead advocates were not allowed into the country due to their illness. The focus of letting HIV positive people is to realize that it is our problem and we need to work on the solution as a country and as a world; together.
