$1 Million worth of free Microsoft

Microsoft is giving away $1 million in software and technology to organizations and non-profits that are working to end poverty. They believe that technology is essential to running these organizations and for improving the lives of those in developing countries. The problem always is to make them affordable for both the people and the organizations. Their hope is that the technology being given will help micro-finance institutions achieve the maximum benefit in helping alleviate the world from poverty. They are teaming with the Grameen Foundation and the Micro Finance Council of the Philippines to create a summit where non-profits can go and bid for the technology. The growth in technology has posed a problem to the organizations that work with little, trying to achieve a lot; this will help these organizations do more with less cost. If the developed world is completely reliant on technology, then the developing world needs it as well if there is ever going to be equality. Affordable or free technology will help achieve the equality and allow future work to happen.
