Creating Jobs in South Africa

Over the next seven years 25,000 new jobs and 1,500 new business ventures in South Africa will be created. Due to whom? Anglo American, that is. This giant in the mining industry is the first in its field to have a plan accepted by Business Call to Action - a world-wide initiative that challenges businesses to use their abilities and knowledge to further the progress of the Millennium Development Goals.

Anglo is committed to instituting 12 new enterprise development hubs in regions of high unemployment. They will help the communities by providing micro finance and access to supply chains, as well as mentoring for small business owners.

Anglo already has one fund in South Africa and reports say the surrounding economy has blossomed. The mining company will also try to stimulate local economies in Chile and Brazil in South America.
