Grassroots Approach Utilized in Fight Against HIV / AIDS

In an effort of increasing the availability and efficiency of anti-viral medication that is distributed, the US is putting locals in South Africa in charge of how the money is spent.

Groups supportive of this project say that this could mean essential savings in tough economic times like these when aid is typically curtailed by the US and other countries of the world.

Such a movement cuts the overhead costs of maintaining US branch offices in the region by employing locals directly for the management of funds that are received and spent.
