HIV/AIDS in Gambia to Take Center Stage

A two-day advocacy meeting held in Gambia included participants from the National AIDS Secretariat and the National Assembly. It was the combined opinion from both of these organizations that "HIV and its revolving issues be factored into the nations's development plan."

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Alieu Jammeh, director general of the National AIDS Secretariat noted the impact of HIV/AIDS on families, communities, and entire nations.

Mr. Jammeh has commended the Gambia parliament for the increase in support they have shown in recent years to the fight against HIV/AIDS but calls for an increase in collaboration between government officials and the public.
