Mysterious Masked Woman Helps The Poor!

What an innovative way to protest! In order to send the message that Hong Kong government's poverty alleviation policies are inadequate, a masked woman in Hong Kong has started to distribute food and money among the poor at night. Calling herself "Bauhinia Heroine" after the city flower of Hong Kong, and dressing in black tights, gloves and boots, the "talk of the town" distributed canned food, instant noodles and cash gifts of 100 HK dollars (about $13) to each slum resident in Sham Shui Po district and Jordan area in Yau Tsim Mong district at night.

The businesswoman admitted for being a part of a famous family in Hong Kong. "I hide my identity because I don't want others to say my purpose was to make myself and my family famous," she said.

She also added that her appearance was inspired by Black Rose, a 1965 film where the female lead steals money from the rich to aid the poor. However, she claimed that the money she distributed had been her own. The masked woman hopes that her act will encourage more people to help the poor in the city as the government is not doing enough.

We just hope her act encourages the government too so that they can take necessary measures for poverty reduction.
